I began my business career on the first day of my senior year at Coginchaug. I sat in an Introduction to Business class only because I had an open elective to fill. During the class, my teacher, Mr. Donecker, played a clip about DECA, a new organization he was hoping to bring to our school. The DECA video he played us captivated me and I knew I wanted to be involved in bringing DECA to Coginchaug. I applied to be the Historian of the club and was immediately given responsibility in advertising, public relations and event documentation. Through my day-to-day duties with our chapter, participating in the state level competition, and attending ICDC in Atlanta, GA I discovered my passion for business. Because of how much I enjoyed these experiences I decided to attend Bryant University and study business. DECA introduced me to my passion for business and my leadership role in the organization gave me the desire to peruse more leadership opportunities throughout my time at Bryant. My experience with DECA in high school gave me the confidence to apply to be a Student Ambassador in just my first month of college. In my time at Bryant I have held many leadership roles on campus such as being a Student Ambassador, Resident Assistant, Student Mentor for the IDEA program and Vice President of Omicron Delta Kappa, a national leadership honor society. I am now a Senior at Bryant set to graduate in May of 2018 with a dual major in Human Resource Management and Psychology. After graduation I have accepted, and plan to peruse, a full time position at Liberty Mutual Insurance as an associate in their Human Resource Development Program.
